Google’s Image Search is a useful tool for finding imagery of types, but did you know the idea was inspired by Jennifer Lopez’s infamous 2000 Grammys dress?
In an essay published in January, Google chairman Eric Schmidt shared how exactly its photo-based search tool came to be.
“At the time, it was the most popular search query we had ever seen,” he wrote. “But we had no surefire way of getting users exactly what they wanted: J.Lo wearing that dress. Google Image Search was born.”
