It’s been three long years since the release of her last album, Unapologetic, and although her “FourFiveSeconds” single burning up radio, there’s still no title or release date for Rihanna’s eighth studio set.
While promoting her new movie Home, the pop star tells MTV that her upcoming album will be worth the wait.
“I’ve made a lot of songs that are really, really big songs,” Rihanna explained. “And I wanted to kind of get back to — not that they weren’t real music, but I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, that felt forever.”
She goes on to say that many of her old hits don’t feel like HER when she performs them today… so this time around, she’s shooting for music that will withstand the test of time.
“I wanted songs that I could perform in 15 years; I wanted an album that I could perform in 15 years,” explained RiRi. “Not any songs that were burnt out. I find that when I get on stage now, I don’t want to perform a lot of my songs. They don’t feel like me. So I want to make songs that are timeless.”
