Police rushed to the Miami Beach mansion of Lil Wayne on Wednesday (March 11), after someone called the cops claiming there was a shooting.
According to police, the caller indicated four people may be injured, but were not on the scene at the time. When authorities arrived, they set up a perimeter around the house, and eventually found no signs of foul play. Lil Wayne actually wasn’t even home.
While the incident made headlines across the Internet and on local news channels, it was nothing but a prank.
The local police department took to Twitter to clear the air, explaining that no one was injured and that the incident appeared to be a “swatting call.”

“Unfortunately this appears to be a swatting call. No victims/no injuries/no subject,” the Miami Beach Police Department posted. “MBPD handles all calls of this nature in a serious manner. In this case it appears to have been a hoax @LiLWaynes home.”
