Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson announced a sequel to the 2001 comedy Zoolander this week, when they surprising attendees of the Maison Valentino show at Paris Fashion Week by walking the runway as the film’s characters.
Paramount Pictures followed by announcing that Zoolander 2 would drop February 12th, 2016, via Twitter.
Stiller, himself, confirmed the news on Instagram, posted a photo of himself and Wilson with the caption: “Apparently Derek and Hansel have come to terms on #Zoolander 2.”
Another IG pic from Valentino showed the pair posing with Anna Wintour.
While plot details are scarce, Zoolander 2 will likely find the duo returning to the modeling world after a long absence.
In a 2010 interview with MTV, Stiller said, “In the fashion world, if you go away for a year, it’s changed — it just happens so quickly. I think the idea in the beginning of the movie is that it’s 10 years later, and Derek and Hansel are literally forgotten. Nobody remembers who they are, so they have to reinvent themselves.”
A previous report from Deadline said that Penelope Cruz has joined the cast, while Will Ferrell will return as designer Mugatu.
