Raekwon

Raekwon is set to deliver what will be his sixth solo album in late April, entitled F.I.L.A. (Fly International Luxurious Art).

Despite being in the game since the early 1990s, the Wu-Tang Clan member says his forthcoming project will be new Raekwon… in which he remasters his craft.

“This is the new Raekwon. After 20 years, this is me mastering my craft all the way to the fullest and still having the passion to want to do it,” he said during a recent interview with Rethunk. “You would think something in my position would lose momentum, but actually it’s the opposite. It pulled me back in and my success started to wind back up after releasing Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, because that was one of my toughest acts to pull off… it kinda motivated me to be more that dude now.”

Elsewhere during the interview, Rae ran down some of his bucket list of artists he’d like to work with. “I wish I could make a record with Stevie Wonder one day. Guys like that who have really been in the game for a long time with music in general,” he said. “I would love to work with Dr. Dre on an track and get his voice and rock with it. I want to get in the track with a Kendrick Lamar one day…I still got my bucket lists of guys I want to f*ck with.”

After having such longevity in the game, Raekwon reveals that he’d like to work more in the film world. “Film, I definitely wanted to step into the world,” he says. “Maybe make a movie one day that I could say I directed. I make movies on wax anyway. That to me is a normal thing. I have goals for other things as well, in due time you will have the opportunity to see where they at.”
