Michael Jordan

Michae Jordan made Forbes’ annual World’s Billionaires list this year for the first time.

Although the NBA legend is usually among the top of any list he’s mentioned in, he’s nowhere near the top of this one… which he’s probably ok with.

According to Forbes, Jordan has an estimated net worth of $1 billion, which allows him to qualify as the 1,741st richest person in the world.

Jordan’s net worth comes from his majority stake in his NBA franchise, the Charlotte Hornets, as well as deals with Gatorade, Hanes and Upper Deck. However, it’s Nike that pays him the most, thanks to his Jordan Brand, which brings in annual sales of $1 billion.

MJ reportedly brings in $100 million a year from royalties off Nike’s Jordan Brand.

Topping the 2015 Billionaires list is Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, followed by Mexico telecommunications giant Carlos Slim and Warren Buffett.

As for sports, the list is packed with other sports owners. The richest team owner is Steve Ballmer, who bought the Los Angeles Clippers for $2 billion last year. He lands on the list as the 35th richest person in the world with a net worth of $21.5 billion. His former Microsoft colleague Paul Allen comes in at #2 among team owners — he owns the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers, and is the 51st richest person in the world with a net worth of $17.5 billion.
