Bobby Shmurda checked in with Hot 97 from behind bars on Thursday (Feb. 26), where he discussed his current status and rumors.
During the brief phone call, the young rapper revealed that he’s being held in court-ordered protective custody, while his GS9 affiliate Rowdy Rebel was placed in solitary confinement because the pair had an altercation with another inmate.
Later, Shmurda denied reports that he was caught with an arsenal of weapons by police. “That sh*t is not true,” he said. “The cops been out for me for forever, man. They been trying to slay me for forever, but they never catch me with nothing. There might be like four, five cops that night that had grabbed me. They told me, ‘Yo, I don’t want my kid listening to your music.’ ”
Before he could continue on, the call was cut short and Shmurda didn’t call back.
The rapper faces up to 25 years in prison for conspiracy, reckless endangerment, and gun possession.
