50 Cent has been critical of the popular FOX series Empire since its release, accusing it of being too similar to his own Starz drama, Power. He even traded jabs with the series’ star Taraji P. Henson.
During a recent interview with MTV, Fif further shared his thoughts on the Fox series and his criticisms.
“I watched it. It’s like Glee … with a little hip-hop music in it,” he said with a laugh.
“I feel like the story line is moving extremely fast. Like, it’s jumping from… doom, doom, doom, doom. Like, I didn’t show my character… Kanan didn’t show up until episode 4 in Power, because I was in jail. Taraji came home on the first episode [of Empire], like after 17 years,” Fif continued. “It’s like, ‘Damn, what happened? What happened to the rest of the story? I don’t know what’s going on.’ (laughs) It started moving real fast.”
Despite the slight jab, 50 says he’s happy for the show’s success because of his relationships with Terrence Howard and Timbaland, both of whom are involved in series. “I think it’s good, and I’m happy that the show’s successful, because I got a lot of friends working on that project,” he said.
50 also goes on to address his brief issue with Taraji, saying it was nothing but jokes… and actually hopes the two can date one day. LOL!.
“No, I just joked about it,” he began. “Plus, Taraji, you a fine motherf*cker. I don’t know, I’mma have to date you one day. We may be together. This ain’t the Love Connection we been waiting for girl. Don’t you be listening to these people when I say things. You know I say things I don’t mean.”
