During the NBA TV special, “Kobe: The Interview,” at one point during the sit-down, Kobe Bryant pinpoints when exactly he became the “Black Mamba.”

According to the Los Angeles Lakers star, it was in 2006, when he had his career-high 81-point game.

“It was always there, you know, let’s put a name to it,” he said with a laugh. “There’s a difference between who you are and what you are. What I am when I step on that court… I become that. I am that killer snake… and I’m stone cold man.”
