The headliners for UFC 187 have been announced.
Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will seek to defend his title for the ninth team, when he meets challenger Anthony Johnson on May 23 in Las Vegas.
Jones (21-1) is coming off a dominant title defense against Daniel Cormier, which he won unanimous decision at UFC 182 back in January. However, days after, it was revealed that the champ had tested positive for traces of cocaine in a pre-bout drug test taken on Dec. 4.
Despite the dirty test, the Nevada State Athletic Commission allowed the fight to go on, since cocaine is not considered a banned substance outside of competition.
Jones checked into a drug treatment facility after the news broke, but stayed for a total of 24 hours. He would also be fined $25,000 by the UFC.
His opponent, who is 19-4, earned a title shot by upsetting Alexander Gustafsson via first-round knockout on Jan. 24. He is currently on a nine-fight winning streak.
Additionally, the UFC middleweight title fight between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort will co-headline the Memorial Day Weekend card.
