Our friends at Lexus recently gave us some hands-on time with their 2015 Lexus RC 350 F Sport. We’ve been looking forward to test driving the two-door sports coupe and graciously took it test over the course of a week.
The new RC 350 F Sport is impressive right off the lot with a 3.5 Liter V6 Engine that produces 306HP. With the ability to go 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, with top speeds of 143 mph on the track, Lexus serves a brilliant marriage of design and performance.
Additionally, an available Eight-Speed Sport Direct-Shift Transmission (RWD only) offers quick acceleration for thrill-seekers. Furthermore, Lexus’ Drive Mode Select enables you to make your RC more responsive or efficient with a simple turn of the dial, from eco to sport.
Our 306HP automatic took to the the road with grace. The RC’s compact design and optional All Wheel Drive provides advanced traction and control on a wide range of road surfaces and weather conditions. The optional Lexus Dynamic Handling upgrade raises the bar with improved agility and control.
The RC 350 F Sport’s interior expertly pairs luxury and sport. Every drive proves to be a treat as you’re hugged by the coupe’s bolstered front sport seats and eased by the vehicle’s clearly marked dynamic gauge cluster dashboard. Lexus recently included all new remote touchpad and Encore display interface, this is a first for Lexus and in all honesty not our favorite feature. Both take a bit to get use to.
Exterior-wise, the RC 350 F Sport is sleek, confident and elegant. The coupe’s gradual contours create a sporty appearance, personifying emotions of confidence and class.
Value and Safety
Safety is at the forefront with four-wheel power-assisted ventilated discs, with four-sensor, four-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist.
Additionally, all new Lexus models come with a complimentary Lexus Roadside Assistance Mobile App, 48 month/50,000 mile warrantee and partnered hotel discounts.
The RC 350 F Sport continues Lexus’ strong linage of luxury. At $46,775, the RC is certainly a triple-threat (design, performance, luxury) sure to satisfy the sports car longings of any sophisticated driver. The vehicle’s certification as an Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) certainly serves as icing to an already great vehicle. However, it should be noted the RC 350 F Sport’s (19/28 city and highway) MPG is one of the few, if only, gripes we had.
Special thanks to Lexus, who provided us with the vehicle, insurance and full tank of gas for this review.
