Kanye West was up to his old tricks again at Sunday night’s (Feb. 8) Grammy awards, unexpectedly walking up on stage at the Staples Center stage as Beck was accepting the Album of the Year award.
His Morning Phase album beat out the evening’s top winner Sam Smith and Beyonce, wh was expected to win.
As Beck walked up, Ye got up out of his seat and pretended to storm the stage, just like in 2009 when he did that to Taylor Swift at MTV’s VMAs. Luckily, it was just as joke or he stopped himself from making another mistake, as he quickly turned around and returned to his seat.
Beck, however, welcomed it… asking Ye for help.
Although Ye stopped, he told E! after the ceremony that he’s tired of authorities trying to “diminish art.”
“Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé,” West said. “At this point we tired of it because what happens is when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats in music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration.
“We aren’t playing with them anymore,” he added. “And by the way, I got my wife, my daughter, and I got my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing that would put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity. That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight, but you all knew what it meant when ‘Ye stepped on that stage.”
Later, Yeezy made peace with Taylor Swift… posing with the pop star and was all smiles.
