After getting a glimpse in December via a leaked teaser, Universal Pictures rolls out the very first trailer for the anticipated N.w.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton.

The “Red Band” trailer begins with Dr. Dre and Ice Cube cruising the hood, visiting Game in the barbershop and Kendrick Lamar at a burger joint, before breaking into the trailer, offering a first look at the upcoming film.

The film tells the story of N.W.A.’s rise from teenagers trying to find their way to international rap stars who change the world with their lyrics. The clip showcases the group’s run-ins with police, the controversy over their lyrics and their fight against censorship, and even Suge Knight helping Dre out of his contract with Ruthless Records.

Straight Outta Compton hits theaters Aug. 14.
