Despite the good news that his $2 million bail was posted this weekend, it seems Bobby Shmurda will remained jailed.
According to the New York Times, a bail package was posted on Friday (Jan. 30) on behalf of the 20-year-old rapper (real name: Ackquille Pollard), but has since been pulled.
“It’s our understanding that the suretor has withdrawn and that no hearing is currently scheduled,” Kati Cornell, a spokeswoman for New York City’s special narcotics prosecutor, told the paper.
“Management associates” had put up the $2 million, but it’s been put on hold. For now, Shmurda will remain behind bars, but his lawyer Kenneth Montgomery says their working n a new bond application.
“We’re trying to do a new bond application and are in the process in the figuring that out,” Montgomery said to the Times. “We’re hoping to get it done within the next week.”
Shmurda is facing an array of gang conspiracy charges, and could face a lengthy prison term if convicted.
