“What happens when a man stands up and says enough is enough?” – MLK Jr.
Cloud Eight Films, Harpo Films and Plan B Entertainment present Selma, the first theatrical biopic depicting Martin Luther King, Jr. The film follows the story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., James Bevel, Hosea Williams and John Lewis’ historic struggle to secure voting rights for all American citizens – a brave and dangerous campaign that began with the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and led to President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
The film, directed by Ava DuVernay, stars David Oyelowo (“Interstellar”) as Martin Luther King Jr., Carmen Ejogo (““Pride and Glory”) as Coretta Scott King, and Tom Wilkinson (“The Grand Budapest Hotel”) as Lyndon Baines Johnson.
This holiday we honor a man who helped pave the way for us to come together. A man whose dream we can follow in Selma, now out in theaters.
