Despite all the buzz when they began beta-testing the device, reports are coming in that Google is suspending — and possibly ending — sales of Google Glass.
According to the BBC, the tech giant is ending sales of the current versions of Glass, but insists that they’re committed to launching the smart glasses as a consumer product.
Instead, Google plans to focus on “future versions of “Glass”. The current Explorer program, which allowed some to buy prototype versions of Glass for $1,500 will also close.
Glass was praised upon launch for being an innovative device, but also criticized for its high pricetag, as well as its look — most felt that made the user look silly.
While Google is committed to the future of Glass, it gave no timeframe for the launch of a new version.
