In addition to our coverage of Ford’s Shelby GT350R Mustang and our experience Behind the Blue Oval, we offer a closer look at what the auto-maker’s billing as its toughest, smartest and most capable truck: the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor.
The new model has been re-engineered from the ground up to ensure off-road and industrial performance. Notable improvements include a newly built high-strength steel frame and a lightweight military-grade aluminum-alloy body.
“When we created the first Raptor, we set out to prove vehicle performance isn’t just measured on the street or at the track — off-road can be even more fun,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “The original Raptor, plus enhancements on the all-new F-150 set the bar for us to make the all-new Raptor better in every way.”
Furthermore, Ford also installed their high-powered, 3.5 EcoBoost® engine — another Raptor exclusive in the F-150 lineup — that promises to be more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, without compromising power. The newly introduced Raptor also features large FOX Racing Shox and a newly developed Terrain Management System that optimizes your ride according to your driving environment.
The Raptor is six inches wider than the standard F-150 for improved stability off-road. It also boasts its first-ever dual exhaust and new 17-inch wheels with next-generation BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires, specifically designed for off-road performance.
The all-new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is slated to go on sale in Fall 2016.
