During the first day of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, Ford officially unveils the all-new version of their famed GT.
The 2016 model returns with a new twin-turbocharged Ford EcoBoost V6, which produces more than 600 hp. The launch year was chosen specifically to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ford GTs placing first, second and third at the 1966 Le Mans, and is set to arrive with rear-wheel drive, a mid-mounted engine and an aerodynamic, two-door coupe body shell.
Other detailing includes carbon fiber and aluminum, which helps it shed weight and benefits its acceleration and handling.
The design pays homage to the original GT, but updated with modern design cues to give it a more aggressive look. Furthermore, it sits on 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires, and equipped with a Brembo braking system.
