More details in the suspension of Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordan has surfaced.
According to ESPN.com, rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel threw a party Friday night (Dec. 26) that was attended by several players, many of which have been punished over the weekend.
Gordon, who has been suspended for a violation of team rules, was one of the players at the party… resulting in him missing a mandatory team walk-through the day after.
Additionally, Manziel was fined on Saturday (Dec. 27) for being a no-show for treatment on his injured hamstring, a source tells ESPN. Less than 24 hours later, rookie cornerback Justin Gilbert was deactivated for Sunday’s season finale against the Baltimore Ravens after missing a team meeting the previous night.
Both Manziel and Gordon were absent from the Browns’ walk-through on Saturday morning, and the team had trouble locating them, sources said. Johnny had to be present for either the walk-through or (since he is on injured reserve) treatment on the hamstring, but didn’t show up for either. So, the team had to search for him since he was not answering his phone.
Browns security were sent to Manziel’s apartment Saturday morning to check on the rookie.
The QB’s fine comes just days after he acknowledged he had to take his job as an NFL quarterback more seriously… and promised to focus more.
