Tesla has announced that a new Roadster 3.0 model is on the year, improving on their newly introduced Model S.
The most impressive upgrade seems to be a new cell that has 31% more energy than the original, as well as a battery pack that delivers roughly 70kWh and a 15-percent improvement in drag coefficient with a retrofit aero kit. New tires also give the Roadster a 20-percent improvement in rolling resistance coefficient.
These improvements combined allow Tesla to achieve a 40-50% improvement on range between the original Roadster and Roadster 3.0, which the car brand says boosts the vehicle to over 400 miles.
Tesla plans to demonstrate the Roadster 3.0 capabilities with a non-stop drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles in the early weeks of 2015. Stay tuned…
