Following his recent departure from Hot 97 and move to Radio 103.9, famed DJ Mister Cee opens up about the transition, as well as his sex scandals in recent years.
In an interview with the New York Times, he explains that his transition to a new station is like a “fresh start in his career.”
“I can play anything, any genre of music, but I do feel that because of the direction that Hot is going in, I might be the answer for now, but I don’t think I’ll be the answer five or 10 years from now,” Mister Cee said.
He later opened up about his sexuality, and abruptly leaving Hot 97, following four sex scandals in three years, including a May 2013 arrest for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover male police officer posing as a prostitute.
Before Cee left this time, he said he didn’t tell anyone he was leaving. “Nobody knew that I was going to resign that day,” he said.
Cee said he’s dealing with his sex addiction by going to therapy twice a month to provide clarity about his sexuality.
“It’s not that I don’t want to say I’m bisexual,” he explained. “It’s almost like, you hear a certain record — is this a hip-hop record or an R&B record? I’m not so sure. I guess that’s where I am.”
