50 Cent, Eminem and present and previous G-Unit/Shady affiliates sat with Complex recently to discuss arguably one of Fif’s most powerful tracks — “Patiently Waiting”, off his major label debut, Get Rich Or Die Trying.
During the 14-minute installment of Complex’s “Magnum Opus” series, the pair detail making their first collabo. Eminem, who produced the track, had just signed 50 to his new imprint, Shady Records.
“‘Patiently Waiting’ was one of the first beats I sent Fif,” he says. “[It] just had the chello… the strings on it and the drums.””
The beat was still raw, but Fif felt it… and the words flowed out. “It had enough for me to know the tempo and the feel of it. And those words came out.”
Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, DJ Whoo Kid, Paul Rosenberg and former G-Unit president Sha Money XL offer commentary.
