After a recent trade sent Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks, another big move is currently being discussed. According to ESPN.com, the Nets and Sacramento Kings have begun talks involving Brooklyn point guard Deron Williams.
Word is, the teams are discussing a multiplayer swap that would send guard Darren Collison and forwards Derrick Williams and Jason Thompson to Brooklyn in exchange for Williams. However, sources say a deal is not close.
ESPN notes that since Williams is owed $63.1 million over the three seasons, Sacramento must be sure about the three-time All-Star. The Kings seem to be on the hunt for a point guard, recently pursuing Rondo.
The Nets have a 10-15 record so far this season and sit at ninth place in the Eastern Conference. They also hold the NBA’s highest payroll.
