Third year point guard Damian Lillard caught fire in a triple overtime 129-119 win against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night (Dec. 19), scoring a career high of 43 points.
The 24-year-old took over the game after the third quarter, helping the Portland Trail Blazers take charge of the game with his clutch play down the stretch. His 43 points came during 53 minutes on the court and 16 for 29 shooting from the field.
“He’s a special player,” Spurs guard Danny Green said after the game. “That last OT, he just took over pretty much. It didn’t matter what we threw at him, he attacked the rim well for them.”
The Trail Blazers’ LaMarcus Aldridge added had 32 points and 16 rebounds, while Wesley Matthews contributed 16 points as Portland (21-6) extended its winning streak to four games.
