Soulja Boy reached a deal in court on Thursday (Dec. 18) that resulted in a gun charge he was facing being dropped.
According to TMZ.com, the 24-year-old (real name: DeAndre Cortez Way) pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor weapons possession charge this week, stemming from an arrest earlier in the year. In addition to the charge being dropped, he was sentenced to 24 months summary probation and 170 hours of community service.
Soulja Boy was pulled over in Los Angeles in January for initially running a stop sign. However, police found a loaded .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver after being stopped and he was subsequently arrested.
Eight months later, Soulja Boy was officially charged for “unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm” and possession of marijuana.
