By now, fans have heard about Lil Wayne airing out his issues with Cash Money Records… and now, word is label co-founder Birdman has no intentions of letting the rap star out of his contract.
In early December, Weezy sent shocking tweets to the world about wanting off the record label he’s called home his entire career… claiming they’re holding up the release of his Tha Carter V album.
“I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy,” he wrote.
Sources tell TMZ that Birdman is deeply offended by Weezy’s public rant… and vows to fight him in court, if necessary, because the rapper is under contract.
As for Wayne’s claims that Cash Money is delaying his album, Birdman says there’s a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into the release of an album… something Lil Wayne doesn’t know much about. Furthermore, Cash Money Records still intends to drop Tha Carter V, but when they’re ready… not when Weezy is.
Wayne has referred to himself as a prisoner on Cash Money Records.
