Last Wednesday, December 10, Tennessee Whisky purveyor George Dickel invited a handful of journalists to an informative bitters seminar with the “King of Cocktails” himself, Dale DeGroff. Don’t believe us? DeGroff’s credited with reinventing the art of bartending and has even served cocktails to John Gotti.

After a brief seminar on the history of American cocktails, we were given the opportunity to test our hand at mixing an assortment of flavored bitters with George Dickel Rye Whisky. The end result being elegant, refined and bold.

Read below for recipe instructions of one of DeGroff’s signature cocktails.
