Robbie Lawler caps off 2014 by hoisting up the UFC welterweight title at UFC 181 against champ Johny Hendricks.
Lawler (25-10) edged out Hendricks (16-3) with a split decision victory on Saturday (Dec. 6) in Las Vegas.
The 32-year-old has had a long journey in MMA. After being pegged a prodigy as a teenager at Miletich Fighting Systems in Iowa, fans have been waiting for him to showcase his potential for much of his professional career.
After the scorecards were read, Hendricks left the cage quickly and didn’t offer thoughts on the fight.
The UFC previously announced the winner of the bout would face Canadian welterweight Rory MacDonald next. So, he’s up next against Lawler.
