Is Lil Wayne finally leaving Cash Money Records?
In a series of tweets on Thursday (Dec. 4), sent from his official Twitter account, the rap star expressed frustration with the label he’s called home since his teenage years. He refers to himself as a prisoner and blasts Cash Money for not releasing his anticipated album, Tha Carter V, which was last reported to drop Dec. 9.
“To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it,” he tweeted.
“This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation,” Wayne continued. “I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy.
“I am a prisoner and so is my creativity,” he concluded. “Again,I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u”
Back in 2012, Lil Wayne resigned with Cash Money Records on a four-album deal. Since then, he’s released I Am Not A Human Being II in 2013… and has been working on Tha Carter V ever since.
