J. Cole

Just days after revealing the track list and days before it’s release, J. Cole’s third album 2014 Forest Hill Drive has leaked.

The Roc Nation rapper planned to debut his new project without any of its singles being released for prior. To create buzz, he’s released a video trailer and has done some hometown campaign promo with fans — showing up to one fan’s house to play the 13-song album, and  held listening sessions for other fans in the childhood home he recently purchased and named the album after.

Fans took to Twitter to talk about how this album is a step above his last.

One track in particular has everyone in a frenzy.  On “Fire Squad,” Cole accuses white artists in both R&B and hip-hop of stealing black culture, specifically naming Justin Timberlake, Macklemore, Iggy Azalea and Eminem.

“History repeats itself and that’s just how it goes / Same way that these rappers always bite each other’s flows / Same thing that my n*gga Elvis did with rock and roll / Justin Timberlake, Eminem and then Macklemore,” he raps.

“While silly n*ggas argue over who gon’ snatch the crown / Look around, my n*gga, white people have snatched the sound / This year I’ll probably go to the awards dapper down / Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile,” Cole later spits. “I’m just playing, but all good jokes contain true sh*t.”

2014 Forest Hill Drive is due out December 9.
