Mister Cee Retires From Hot 97 For Second Time

Mister Cee

Longtime Hot 97 radio personality Mister Cee redesign from the station for the second time on Friday (Nov. 21).

Longtime friend Funkmaster Flex took to Instagram to support Cee, writing: “Resignation Alert!!!” Today will be @djmistercee last day on @hot97 !!! Tune in and wish him well.”

The departure follows radio vet Angie Martinez’s exit from Hot 97 in June 2014, moving over to rival station Power 105 FM. Former music director Karli Hustle also left the station this year.

Mister Cee’s first resignation came in the aftermath of his prostitution scandal in New York City, following multiple arrests for soliciting transgender hookers.

Cee built his legacy in the 1980s as Big Daddy Kane’s deejay. Later, in the 1990s, he was one of people credited with discovering the late Notorious B.I.G., and was even credited as executive producer on Biggie’s debut album, 1994’s Ready to Die.
