The Oklahoma City Thunder are off to a rough start. After losing Kevin Durant to a broken foot earlier this morning, guard Russell Westbrook is now out after suffering injury Thursday night (Oct. 30).
The star guard sustained a small fracture in his right hand Thursday, during the second quarter of the team’s 93-90 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. It happened when Westbrook went up a rebound and hit Kendrick Perkins’ elbow, after which he grimaced and looked down at his right hand as he tried to make a fist.
While the injury is set to be re-evaluated Friday (Oct. 31), it could require surgery to stabilize, which could set Westbrook’s recovery time between four to eight weeks. Stay tuned…
Without Westbrook, the Thunder are down to eight players, after losing Durant, Reggie Jackson and Jeremy Lamb.
