Canadian photographer Thomas Dagg recently released this series of images, in which he inserts popular elements from the Star Wars franchise into modern urban landscapes. He turned his childhood toys into realistic additions to a number of black-and-white photos, using different focal lengths to shoot the real life shots and 5-inch toys, so that they matched perspectives and angles.
“I ended up shooting all the toys etc. on neutral grey, so I could take the shadows and blend it in using soft light or overlay modes,” Dagg explained of the process in an interview with PetaPixel. “It would only really work if the seamless ended up being the perfect density, but it saved me so much time painting in shadows, etc.”
