The Oct. 28 date set for Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V has come… and still no release.
Despite an official announcement from the official Young Money Twitter account last week, the long awaited new project from Weezy has been delayed… again. However, in a vlog posted late Tuesday (Oct. 28), the rapper explained why, saying that due to all the material he’s recorded… he wants to drop Tha Carter V in two parts.
“I’ve been working hard, every motherf*cking day on this album. This album mean a whole lot to me… and I know the real fans out there, it means a whole lot to them too,” Weezy explained. “So, I kinda refuse to cheat them and just give them anything… and give them anything rushed. I recorded so many songs. I had to come up — we had to come up with a way to get all the music out there. Not just 13 songs or 12 songs.
“I got too many songs recorded and I worked on way too much to just give you half of it,” he added. “I refuse to cheat my fan. I refuse to cheat myself. So, we have to come up with a way to give these people every song that I’ve been here recorded. And… we’ve come up with a way to do it.”
Tha Carter V — Part 1 is slated to drop on Dec. 9 with Part 2 to follow sometime after.
In addition to the news, Wayne decided to leak a new single from the upcoming album — “Gotti” featuring The Lox.
