Following the bombshell of a VIBE coverstory, in which Tyga explained his stance with the Young Money camp, called Drake a “fake,” and said he didn’t get along with Nicki Minaj, the rapper took to Twitter to further explain himself.
Although, in the interview, the Los Angeles rapper didn’t offer the most flattering of comments, he says he was just being honest… and wants to remain positive.
“People aren’t perfect. So don’t try to be,” Tyga tweeted. “Hard when u fall out with people that u were close to ,admired called them your family. No shots all honesty. … Being positive and honest is what I’m about. No jealousy No negativity about me. Stay True ,God will guide u.”
The issues between Tyga and the YMCMB camp began with comments on Twitter earlier this month, where he claimed the label was holding him hostage… refusing to give him a release date for his next album, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty. He threatened to leak the album instead, and told one fan he wouldn’t be on the label much longer.
In the VIBE interview, Tyga explained that he’s trying to distance himself from the label that helped build his career… while calling out his labelmates.
“I’m tryna go independent. I don’t really get along with Drake. I don’t really get along with Nicki,” he told the mag. “I don’t like Drake as a person. He’s just fake to me. I like his music; you know what I’m saying? I think his music is good, but we’re all different people. We were forced together and it was kinda like we were forcing relationships together. It is what it is.”
