The New York Giants took a major hit on Sunday night (Oct. 12), when receiver Victor Cruz was carted off the field with a torn patellar tendon.
In the third quarter of the team’s 27-0 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the coach went for it on fourth-and-goal from the Eagles’ 3-yard line.
Cruz got open in the back-right corner of the end zone, and Eli Manning lofted a pass he got his hands on. But, as he leaped for the ball, his right leg appeared to twist. As the ball tipped off his hands, Cruzimmediately reached for his right knee while still in midair… and fell to the ground in pain.
Trainers rushed to the field, before he was eventually loaded onto a cart and taken off the field.
It’s unclear how long recovery would take at press time.
