Did you know Iggy Azalea was married? We didn’t either, but apparently, neither did she.
According to TMZ.com, rapper Hefe Wine (real name: Maurice Williams) has filed for divorce in Texas to what he calls a common-law marriage.
He claims Iggy “agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the State of Texas on or about September, 2008.” And, began living separately just last year.
The report says that, in Texas, a man and a woman who live together for any length of time are considered legally married if they agree to be married and hold themselves out to others as husband and wife. Iggy’s camp, however, says she never held herself out as Hefe’s wife and never agreed to be married.
In court docs, Wine is asking a judge to stop Iggy from selling assets they accumulated during the marriage.
Wine previously unearthed a contract, allegedly signed by Iggy, that allowed him to “manufacture, sell, distribute and advertise ‘any’ recording embodying visual images,” pertaining to music they recorded together. So, if the judge recognizes the marriage, all the music recorded during their “marriage” becomes community property.
Iggy’s camp calls the divorce a desperate attempt at a money grab.
Hefe Wine is the man who allegedly appears in a sex tape that has been shopped to various outlets.
For those who don’t know, the rap star has been in a year-long relationship with Lakers star Nick Young.
