Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo broke his hand during a fall at his home on Thursday evening (Sept. 25)… and will now miss the start of the regular season.
He underwent surgery on his broken left hand on Friday (Sept. 26). He told ESPN he slipped in the shower.
Rondo is expected to miss six to eight weeks due to the injury, leaving the Celtics without their starting point guard for the start of the season.
He’s missed 95 games the past two seasons, most due to an ACL tear in January 2013.
Rondo is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2014-15 season. However, Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge says the plan is to keep him in Boston long-term.
