As he gears up for his Album About Nothing, Wale stopped by Power 105’s The Breakfast Club this week to talk about music, his career, and of course, recent controversy.
During the interview, the MMG rapper discusses his departure from Roc Nation, saying the company is going in another direction; admits that it bothers him when his songs don’t get the reception he expects; and his relationship with Mark Ronson, who gave him his first deal.
Wale also touches on his issues with Meek Mill, admitting that he was caught off guard when his labelmate made claims that Wale was hating on him.
“It did,” he responded when asked if it stunned him. “I thought it was some trolling, somebody with a fake retweet. I was just looking it at like, ‘Damn, what’s up?’ But then I saw the ‘Don’t even text me’ jawn. So, I’m like, okay… I still love him. That’s how you feel, that’s on you. But, I still got love for the dude and wish nothing but the best for him.”
Although, Wale’s said there’s no issues — he’s talked to Meek’s camp — he admits that he’s yet to talk to Meek Mill direct.
