Dr. Dre

After selling off his Beats brand to Apple, it's no surprise that Dr. Dre earns the 2014 Forbes Hip-Hop Cash Kings crown.

The legendary producer sold off the Beats Electronics brand to Apple for $3 billion back in May, taking his earnings over the past year to $620 million -- more than the combined figures of all 24 of his peers on the list.

Diddy and Jay Z tie for the runner-up spot with $60 million each. Jay's earnings were his highest since 2010, coming from his Roc Nation empire, extensive touring, D'Ussé cognac, and his Magna Carta... Holy Grail, which topped a million sales before it was was released thanks to a lucrative deal with Samsung. The bulk of Diddy's earnings came from Ciroc vodka brand, with some earnings also coming from his DeLeon tequila, Blue Flame marketing, Sean John, and REVOLT TV brands.

Drake lands at #4 with $33 million, thanks to the 4 million copies sold of his fourth album, Nothing Was The Same, as well as an arena tour and endorsement deal with Jordan Brand... helping him triple his 2013 earnings.

Rounding out the top 5 is the duo of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who combined for $32 million in earnings, while Nicki Minaj is the only female to earn a spot on the list at #11 with $14 million.

Also, unfortunately a number of artists narrowly missed the top 20, earning just below $7 million -- including Timbaland, Kid Cudi, Akon, A$AP Rocky, Common, Questlove, Nas and T.I.

Forbes rankings are based on touring, record sales, publishing, merchandise sales, endorsements, and other ventures -- all calculated from June 2013 to June 2014.
