Mercedes-Benz revealed this week the second sports car developed entirely in-house by its Mercedes-AMG branch.
It boasts a front mid-engine design with a rear transaxle and use of intelligent aluminum lightweight construction, for the foundation of a highly dynamic driving experience.
Under the hood is newly developed AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine; and is the first sports car engine from AMG with internally-mounted turbochargers, available in two output ratings: as a GT with 456 hp and as a GT S with 503 hp. These numbers allow the car to reach 3.7 seconds from 0-60 mph and a top speed of 193 mph.
The Mercedes-AMG GT S is equipped as standard with an AMG performance exhaust system with fully variable exhaust vanes. Other features in the S includes an instrument cluster with 220 mph speedometer scale and red color highlights; performance steering wheel; black nappa leather/DINAMICA microfiber; AMG Affalterbach Crest embossed in the center armrest; and nappa leather.
The 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S will launch first in the spring 2015, following with the AMG GT coming later.
