GMC extended an invitation to join their inaugural GMC Fantasy Football League in Denver, during which we were able to test drive the new 2015 GMC Yukon Denali. Here’s our thoughts/first impression.
GMC’s Yukon Denali confidently delivers 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, the best in its class, thanks to its newly developed 6.2L EcoTec3 V-8 engine. Additionally, included Active Fuel Management technology activates and deactivates four of Yukon’s eight cylinders based on load and power demand, ensuring optimized fuel consumption. Standard electric power steering ensures greater fuel efficiency and handling, making for a powerful and well balanced ride.
Technology and comfort are the biggest advances in the new model, including the SUV’s functionality as a moving 4G LTE hotspot for up to seven devices via OnStar (free for the first three months). A convenient heads-up windshield display projects important vehicle and navigational information above the dashboard. Additionally, the Yukon Denali boasts multiple sources of connectivity including 110v 3-prong outlets, USB ports and a 3.5mm auxiliary jack in addition to wireless Bluetooth capability and a Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound System.
GMC’s new Hill Start Assist technology is certainly a game changer. The feature detects inclines and holds brakes for two seconds, or until the gas pedal is pressed, to prevent the vehicle from rolling backward. Driver Alert technologies, like Lane Departure Warnings and Safety Alert Seats, make a welcomed addition to the line of regal SUVs. A six month subscription to OnStar’s Automatic Crash Response, Turn-by-Turn Navigation and Roadside Assistance is included on all new models.
The GMC Yukon Denali excels in professional grade performance, strength and safety. With a generous GMC Pro Grade Protection Plan that covers up to five years/100,000 miles of service, it’s no wonder why GMC continues to be one of America’s favorite SUV and truck manufacturers. The 2015 GMC Yukon Denali has a sticker price of $63,000.
Special thanks to GMC, who provided us with the vehicle, housing and travel accommodations for this review.
