50 Cent used the trending “Ice Bucket Challenge” — created to encourage donations toward ALS research — to taunt former friend Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The rapper posted a video Thursday (Aug. 21), in which he asks the boxer to take part in the challenge, which doesn’t involve a bucket of ice, or even the ALS Foundation. Instead, he challenges him to read a book, and if he does, he’s willing to put up $750,000 toward charity.
“This is a special ALS/ELS challenge for you Floyd,” 50 Cent says. “If you could read one full page of a Harry Potter book … I’ll give $750,000 to whatever charitable organization you want to.
“F*ck the bucket of ice, man,” he concluded, before throwing a bucket of ice towards his backyard.
When he shared the video on Instagram, he further mocked Mayweather, saying he wanted the athlete to “read a full page … without starting and stopping or f*cking up.”
Reports say 50 Cent was provoked by a recent Mayweather interview with MLive.com, during which he was asked about his beefs with 50 Cent, Nelly and T.I.
“God has blessed me with an unbelievable talent, with fast feet, fast hands, unbelievable defense and a very, very sharp mind,” the boxer said. “So I’m thankful for that. Of course, hip hop artists, they come and go. They come and go. But I’m still here.”
