War Machine

MMA fighter War Machine was arrested Friday (Aug. 15) in California for allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend, adult film actress Christy Mack, within an inch of her life.

The 32-year-old (born Jon Koppenhaver) was apprehended by U.S. marshals at a hotel in Simi Valley, a northern suburb of Los Angeles where he was raised.

In a statement posted by Mack on Twitter on Monday (Aug. 11), she claims War Machine showed up unannounced to her Las Vegas home at around 2 am on Aug. 8 and gave her the beating of her life. First he beat up her friend (a man), sending him away only to turn his attention to her. He forced her to strip and shower before knocking out some of her teeth and breaking 18 bones in her face. She says he even attempted to rape her, though he was unable to perform. Finally, he sawed off her hair with a dull knife… before she eventually fled to a neighbor’s home.

Mack says War Machine had been abusive in the past and broke up with her in May, though photos of them together have surfaced as recent as two weeks ago.

War Machine was wanted on suspicion of domestic battery, strangulation, lewdness, assault and coercion. Las Vegas Police issued a warrant for his arrest earlier in the week.

Since the incident made headlines, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker announced that War Machine’s contract with the promotion has been dissolved in light of the accusations.
