Nike gave us a private tour of Chicago’s historic United Center this week, during the company’s World Basketball Festival 2014. The 21,000 capacity indoor sports arena is home to two of Chicago’s most revered athletic clubs, the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks.
As we listened to our guide speak on the various legendary players who had called the stadium home, Scottie Pippen walked in unannounced. Our group immediately began to cheer and clap ceremoniously, as the NBA legend took over the tour and walked us into the Bulls’ locker room.
When asked what his favorite memory in the United Center was, he replied: “Winning my first championship.” He then elaborated on the six championships he and his teammates won, curiously remaining humble throughout and then finally breaking out in a wide grin.
