Johnny Manziel made his Cleveland Browns debut on Saturday (August 9), during his team’s preseason loss to the Detroit Lions.
While the rookie had his moments, his and Brian Hoyer’s performances weren’t definitive in cementing themselves at the quarterback position. Neither quarterback found the end zone either.
Manziel threw for 63 yards on 7-for-11 attempts, and gained 27 yards on six rushes. “For me it was a good start. Have to start somewhere and set a foundation,” he said after the game. “Luckily for me there’s three more games to get out there and learn.”
The Browns lost 12-13 with kicker Billy Cundiff scoring all the team’s points with 4 field goals.
