Wiz Khalifa and Taylor Gang members, Juicy J and Ty Dolla $ign, were enlisted to contribute to the soundtrack for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles… and they came up with the newly released cut, “Shell Shocked.”
Former rapper Vanilla Ice was recently asked his opinion about song, being that he contributed his own rap song to the 1990s TMNT film. Apparently, he’s not feeling Wiz’s contribution to the film franchise.
“With respect to all of the artists, the song doesn’t really do it for me,” Ice told GQ in a recent interview. “It feels a little artificial. What I mean by that is that it sounds like a bunch of executives in the corporate world put it together. It really does not fit the theme of the Ninja Turtles legend. I think you have to understand, and be a true Ninja, to possess the Magic to really pull off the secret sound.”
In 1991, Vanilla Ice performed “Ninja Rap” for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. He also appeared in the film as himself.
The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is slated to arrive in theaters Friday (August 8).
