More than a year after making XXL’s 2013 Freshman Class and nearly two years after signing to Def Jam, Trinida James has been dropped from his label.
The Atlanta rapper, best known for the 2012 hit “All Gold Everything,” announced the news on Twitter Friday (August 1).
“I should tell yall. I got dropped by the Label,” James wrote. “My Album is now free. If u hear ur beat or verse on it. I hope u want dap cuz i got no money.”
Following the viral success of “All Gold Everything,” James was courted by several major record labels, and eventually signed a reported $2 million deal with Def Jam in late 2012.
Although he’s released two mixtapes since then, his debut album was never given the go ahead.
