Though there are 34,000 McDonald’s restaurants scattered throughout the world, none of them can compare to the one located in Downey, California (a Los Angeles suburb). The restaurant is one of the originals, dating back to 1953… and is currently the oldest operating McDonald’s location in the world.
Yahoo Travel recently paid it a visit to showcase its original charm. Many of the period details have been preserved, including the original McDonald’s arch, which also features the chain’s old mascot, chef Speedy. However, its highlight is its apple pies. This McDonald’s serves them deep-fried, the way the restaurant made them back in the 1950s.
If you’d like to visit this McDonald’s, it’s located at: 10207 Lakewood Boulevard, Downey, Calif.
