American adults have spoken: their favorite beverage is beer. More Americans say they prefer a pint over a glass of wine or a cocktail, according to a new Gallup poll.
In Gallup’s 2014 Consumption Habits survey (which polled 1,013 randomly selected adults 18 and older), 41 percent of U.S. drinking adults said they typically choose beer; 31 percent choose wine, and 23 percent choose liquor.
According to Yahoo, its the strongest showing for beer in the United States since the drink’s popularity tumbled in 2005. At its peak in the 1990s, almost half of Americans said they preferred beer.
Despite beer leading the game, when the data is broken up by gender, wine is still the top choice for women (46 percent). For men, 57 percent prefer beer.
